Reborn of my passion! Paintball!

Last year I was so disappointed for not be able to participant in the game and I had lost my sponsorship to play again. I promise to myself to come back strong and highly faithful in the game I love next year.

This year…. 2008! I had made fulfilled my oath. Playing for partically sponsored team which comes from no experience and newbie players. I am honored to be the coach and player for the team to be the champion in the whole season and tournament.

Our first match commence on 16 February 2008, fighting from 0800 am until dusk hour 1700 pm. Non-stop warfare at the battlefield called Draxxusand Dye, which determine the strongest team ever in the Division 3. Pellat of paint flying everywhere hitting anything that goes its way. Blown up bunkers are everywhere for us to cover and take on our enemy.

This is the Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit (MPOC) Championship at Xtion Paintball Park, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Who will be the winner of Division 3 Tournament Champion for 1st league?

Team Dark Angels
Man walking slowly with BIG guns

P/S: This post is from my old blog. I would like to elaborate more and some of it is added extra from the original.

It seems that this year I have to skip paintball tournament, I can’t seems to gather a team of dedicated players. It’s hard nowadays to get someone to play such sport and commited to it especially it cost some real cash. Tomorrow is the tournament for 3 on 3 at Taman Desa. I wanted to join but the luck seems not by my side.

I got a call from Daniel Hum (my ex-teammate) saying that he need another team to participant in Open category. I am all in and he manage to get me and Kenneth Tan then later at night he call me up and say that he can’t get more people. So it seems that my hope goes up and then down back. *SIGH*

I was defeated together with my brothers-in-arm

It was a good morning on Saturday and I had not been having enough sleep. The whole night I was studying about the map and strategy we should implement. What’s more interesting, I had been lacking of sleep lately.

Da Arrival
I arrive at the battleground campsite around 7:00 AM. I had to carry a big ice box and a carton of mineral water for my brothers-in-arm. The entrance is really different compared to first 4 league, maybe this is the final league and I heard there is celebrity and press around.

Da Shop

Our team sponsor Werdna Hol Sports Paintball Pro-Shop is having a booth to sell paintball apparels and some equipment. If you wanted to kick start paintball, you should visit the retail store at:

PRO-SHOP PHONE : +603 5621 9279
PRO-SHOP FAX : +603 5621 8279

P/S: Sorry guys.. I am being sponsored so I had to advertise a little bit to show my appreciation to my sponsors.

Da Hide-Out
My team is placed together with our all-girls family team, Team Tornado Angels. We got the whole tent and thats where we place our banner up across the tent.

What to do in the tent? I personally dressing up my team jersey and boots up. Once I am done I start to arrange our team’s mask, pods, barrels and pod harness on the table. Loading up the pellets into the pods and then stuffing them into the pod harness.

I place at least 4 pods into each harness we had, some of it I fill it up to 6 pods. Team Tornado in this tournament is competiting in Division 3. We had to use mechanical house markers which only be giving out when your team are called to Standby. If you are in Division 1 or 2, you must have your own marker. Most of them in this category are using Electronic markers aka E-Markers, it shoots extremely fast and more accuracy.

Team History in NPL 2006
My team comprise of Randal, Reuben(C), Adrian, Daniel and myself make our first appearance in Padang UM and we manage to be in the Quater-Final during the NPL 1st League.

NPL 2nd League was held in Ipoh, Padang MPI. We manage to get additional players to swap around so we won’t get tired easily. The team members was 5 of us together with KC Yap, ex-paintballer back in action. This time we manage to finish on the podium making it to 4th placing.

NPL 3rd League held in Kuantan, Padang MPK. This league is rather disappointing eventhough we had 2 extra players to swap around. We only manage to make it to Quater-Final. The team member was Reuben(C), Adrian, Daniel, Patrick(M), Choon, Vinod and myself.

NPL 4th League held in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Padang Merbok. We still didn’t manage to finish on the podium and defeated in the Quater-Final. Many strong team performance are deterioting as well. This places us 5th ranking in the overall NPL 2006.

The points to be overall champion is very close. My team can make it if we manage to be the 1st on the podium with the top ranking teams out of the 1st Round (which is very impossible). Anyway, the dream to be the overall champion to receive the RM 10K cheque is real.

My team manage to keep our performance to the notch as we win 4 matches in a day. This is good enough for us to be in the Quater-Finals but for us to be in much better position soo we won’t meet up with the strong teams we have to win the following 4 matches.

We were suppose to fight till we are exhausted for the whole day totalling 8 matches. Due to unforseen circumstances, we had to postpone 4 matches for tomorrow. Believe me, this is the worst tournament I have encountered. We had to waited for at least 2-3 hours for each match. We are too exhausted of waiting and not of fighting.

D-Day Judgement
Well.. Sunday is the judgement day… The day seems dark to me and I felt uneasy the whole time. We are not performing well… I felt we just been cursed, yesterday we were like unbeatable warrior and today we were like a punching bag. We lost 3 out of 4 matches today to very new teams that we underestimate them. However, my team still makes it to the Quater Final. The top 16 teams are able to be in the Quater Final, my team unfortunately grouping with the best team around. That’s makes our chances to be on the podium is history and remain in dreamland.

We had to battle with 3 different teams in a 4 team group. However we lost the first 2 match badly. We got shot out during the breakout to reach our safe box and most of them are just silly mistake. I can proudly say that our team had improve on communication and we had reach a higher level of this sport. I must train up my field awarness and bunkering skill.

In the final match, we decided to use our secret tactic to against our enemy.

Tomorrow, I will fight till my last breathe..

… till I am standing on the podium!

It’s paintball time. Tomorrow will be the last series of National Paintball League 2006. It’s been weeks long I did not have proper paintball training. My team last training together is during our tournament back in August 2006 which we were NOT doing GOOD at all. My team is lacking its performance and confidence to win the tournament.

We got a reasonable sponsor. We got the equipments. We got the exposure and experience. But we are still not strong enough and not giving our best. I seriously don’t know why they keeping their 100% and did not committed and drown into focusing victory.

We most of the time play with our 6th sense. Our strategy and tactics is to get into the safe box and do our own job. We did get into the safe box and we start doing our job BUT do we know when to GO? Or when we should STAY LOW? NO! We don’t know, ONLY the back supporter knows where THEIR position and WHAT they are doing!

YES! I am the backman; I keep the front man safe and make sure he can do his JOB. Sometimes my super 300dB voice doesn’t able to reach the frontman. I am not sure he is too focusing on his JOB till he had forgotten that he had a team mate.

What did I do for the past month after the last defeat? Definitely I must train harder, lose some weight and gain some stamina. My paintball skill is rather improved a lot and my judgment seems to be quicker. My latest training which is last Saturday had really thought me a lot new moves and skill. My enthusiasm to win 1st on podium is still burning. This is my last chance to prove that I can be there and throne the trophy.

For those who want to be spectator or CKO for my team, you are welcome to mail me.

My Life as a Professional Paintballer

P/S: This post is from my old blog. I would like to elaborate more and some of it is added extra from the original.

Today I am a Professional Paintballer in Malaysia but too bad I am still in Division 3. There is much factors that I need to consider before moving up to the Professional Pro-Am level. .

Here is my story..

My first paintball exposure were at Taman Desa TAG Paintball playing indoor “REC Field” ( Will tell you more in the next post ). TAG Paintball is a multi-level car park bay with barrels, board, tables and tyres as stronghold. The invitation from my friend,mD, were kinda last minute thingy. Since I wanted to play since the first paintball introduce and available in Malaysia ONLY at Bukit Tinggi, I don’t care so much bout being last minute call up or so.. The group consist of my secondary friends, I seriously meant 8 of them were my senior and 1 of them were my junior but he had migrate to US for good (that’s Siao Kia). We got 1 box bullet (aka pallet), a gun (aka Marker) and a protective mask. The girls had an extra to wear VEST but too bad for guys are covered with only thin cotton layer. I personally enjoy the game very much. We even talk about it after the game. The game cost me around RM 110.

From this moment, I start to learn more about this game and found out that this is not a “fun game” but recognise as a sport in US and many other country. The first place landed me to get invovle into paintball and become a PRO today is RASKAL LEGION. This is an organisation formed in Malaysia and now throughout the whole world there is at least a team bearing the name “RASKAL”.

Lurking through the website and forum, HERE I found Team Tornado and that’s where it leads me to now. A part of Professional Paintballer Community.

Futsal @ Kuchai Lama

P/S: This post is from my old blog. I would like to elaborate more and some of it is added extra from the original.

21 May 2006 : Finally I manage to play futsal for the first time. Got a call from my friend mD for a game at 8:30PM at Score Arena near Jalan Kuchai Lama, Kuchai Lama (Kuala Lumpur). We have 10 players in the game. Most of them are from secondary school and I believe I am the youngest among them. All of them are my senior, I group with my friend mD and a 3 others. Its been so long since the last time I play soccer for my secondary school team (that was since year 2000). Moreover I have been lacking exercise and no sexcerise as well, I am easily exhausted but I felt very excited as I am about to play the sport that I love and longing for..

The game were great except there is no seriousness in it and everyone were not aggressive in the game. I enjoy myself playing in the game. It only cost me RM 9 for 1 hour of sweat and I think it worth it all. I am looking forward for another session but when will that be??

Rock Climbing @ Summit

P/S: This post is from my old blog. I would like to elaborate more and some of it is added extra from the original.

17 MAY 2006 : I finally manage to drag Desmond together for rock climbing at SUMMIT. The place is kinda cool. Located at the highest floor of the mall, just right above the IT Centre in the mall.

Desmond get me his clothings while I go straight from my work in the heart of KL. I reach The Summit Shopping Centre at 7:30PM (1930 hours). We proceed to the counter and they ask us to sign a registration form. We must pay for the entrance fee and some rental equipment such as harness (the one where you need to wear and expose your crotch), Rock shoes (quite comfy shoes and better gripping) and Belay set (a “figure 8” and a “locking carabiner”). We also go for the BRSIC (Basic Rock Climbing Safety Instruction Course), this is for beginners.

Although I had done rock climbing, abselling and repelling before but it was 8 years ago. I still remember that time I am quite PRO about the lockings and the safety measurement. NOW I think I seriously need to buckle up my tummy and do more GYM to get back my muscle.

In the BRSIC, we learn how to tie a double 8 figure knot for climbers and how to secure the belay set making sure the climber didn’t fall down on the floor when he slip while climbing. I manage to complete the basic climb but I can’t achieve the tougher one. I will go there one weekend and try it again. It’s good to start doing all these adventurous activities. Once I manage to complete all these, I will go to climb the real ones.

P/S: This post is from my old blog. I would like to elaborate more and some of it is added extra from the original.

On the competition day, we have to be at the field by 8:00 AM to get ourself well prepared and settling down at our campsite. There are quite number of team in DIV3, roughly about 50 teams competiting for the 1st placing. Today we have to play for 7 matches and 1 more matches tomorrow before deciding we are moving to the TOP 8 round. There are about 10 teams which is well trained and experienced. We are considered newest in the tournament but we all looking professional as we have full apparels and enought equipment.

– Each match is set at 5 minutes.
– Full scores is 100 points.
– Each team mates down will be deducting 2 points while each enemy down will be extra 2 point.

In the overall competition MAX point is suppose to be 800 points. My team manage to obtain 611 points which ranked at 7th placing.
